Edmund Serem has plans to reclaim Kenya's steeplechase glory as he puts Soufiane El Bakkali on notice.
Amos Serem’s younger brother Edmund Serem has explained how they are planning to reclaim Kenya’s glory in the steeplechase as he put Soufiane El Bakkali on notice.
The reigning world under-20 3000m steeplechase champion revealed that plans are underway to find the best way how they can dominate the steeplechase in the coming seasons. Kenya has dominated the 3000m steeplechase for years but things started changing after Ezekiel Kemboi’s retirement and Conseslus Kipruto’s injury woes.
Kenya won every Olympic title in the men’s 3000m steeplechase from 1968 to 2016. Soufiane El Bakkali ended Kenya’s streak at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The Moroccan claimed the 2022 and 2023 World Championships titles and then defended his Olympic title at the Paris Olympic Games this year. The world record was broken last year by Ethiopia’s Lamecha Girma.
