The Olympic medalist took an aggressive approach from the start. Leading solo for the majority of the race, Chebet pushed the pace, eventually setting a meeting record of 14:09.52.
Although she fell just short of the world record, her performance was still the seventh fastest in history, solidifying her status as one of the premier distance runners in the world.
Mary Moraa, another Kenyan star and the reigning world champion in the 800m, demonstrated her strategic racing intellect in Zurich.
Coming off a world-best performance in the 600m just days earlier in Berlin, Moraa executed a conservative first lap before decisively taking the lead in the final stages.
Her finishing kick was unmatched, propelling her to victory in a time of 1:57.08, ahead of Great Britain’s Georgia Bell and the American Addison Wiley.
