The women's 100m final at the World Championships in Budapest lived up to expectations as one of the fastest races in history, with Sha'Carri Richardson racing to the title in a record of 10.65s.
Richardson secured the famous win to become the first champion from the USA since 2017, when the late Tori Bowie achieved the same feat in London.

Sha'Carri Richardson smashed the World Championship Record to become the new women's 100m World Champion in Budapest.
By doing this, she dethroned the Jamaican dominance in the event, as Shericka Jackson settled for the silver medal in 10.71s and defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won bronze in 10.77s.

Shortly after the race, while the ladies were having their lap of honour, they got involved in a conversation where the American speedster acknowledged Fraser-Pryce's supremacy on the track.
Fraser-Pryce asked how long it took USA to get a gold medal, to which Richardson replied: "It's because of you. Because of you."
The Jamaican track legend has been the most dominant women's 100m sprinter in World Championships history, having won five consecutive titles from 2009 - 2022, and the only time she wasn't present in 2017 (due to childbirth) was when the late Bowie became champion for the USA.
