The former American sprinter has given reasons why he thinks Noah Lyles will struggle to make an impact at the 2025 World Championships despite his recent heroics.

Former US sprinter Monzavous "Rae" Edwards has sensationally claimed that Noah Lyles will not win a medal in 100m at the 2025 World Championships.

Edwards, popularly known as Rae, claims Lyles stands no chance of winning 100m gold three years in a row as it is something the current generation of athletes have never managed while explaining how difficult it is to achieve that feat.

Speaking on his Raes Take on X, Edwards even went ahead to claim that Lyles would not make the US 100m team to the World Championships if he did not have a bye as he believes there are other better athletes who will make life difficult for him.

“Noah Lyles would miss the 100m Dash team this year if he didn’t have the bye. He will be the 4th fastest American. He won’t medal this year in the 100m Dash at worlds. 200m he will. Wait for it,” he posted on X.

The comment drew the ire of fans online with some accusing him of hating the Olympics 100m champion but he stood his ground, explaining his theory further.

“Go find me the last male track athlete to win the 100m Dash in 3 consecutive years. Don’t worry..I’ll wait. Usain didn’t even accomplish that. So, what y’all are saying is Noah is about to be the first 100m sprinter ever to win a 100m 3 peat…in three consecutive years,” he added.

“Do y’all know how F’n hard that is to do! Do you know how hard it is to win 1 Title! And even harder to win back-to-back (which he did). Now you want him to do a 3 peat! I ain’t hating…I’m the only one being real! You know how f’n hard that is to do! Ain’t happening captain.”

It is an interesting take given Lyles is seen as the man to beat in 100m, having won gold at the 2023 Worlds and 2024 Paris Olympics.

He also won 200m gold at the last three straight World Championships before Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo stunned him at the Paris Olympics where he won bronze.

“Yea I got him at 4th. Gotta think about it. You think Tebogo ain’t coming…you think that Linebacker of a Jamaican ain’t coming. You think that other Jamaican ain’t fuming right now. Trayvon [Bromel] back…and in his prime. Fred [Kerley] always gone be Fred. Man listen,” Edwards added on why he feels Lyles stands no chance next year.
