Koitatoi Kidali insisted that talent without education is not enough as he plans to go back to school after the Olympic Games.

Kenya’s latest 800m maverick Koitatoi Kidali has disclosed plans to go back to school possibly after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Kidali will be representing Kenya in the men’s 800m after his majestic run at the Kenyan Olympic trials where he sealed the podium, clocking a personal best time of 1:42.66, to directly qualify for the Olympics.

He finished behind Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who won the race in great fashion, and Wycliffe Kinyamal who finished second.

Despite showcasing his talent and proving that running can be his fulltime career, the 21-year-old believes education is more important and has shared plans to return to class and pursue his dream course, sports science.

At the moment, Kidali is not enrolled in any school but he will make his dream a reality after jetting back into the country from Paris.

“At the moment, I want to go back to school and study because without education, there is not much I can do. You can be very talented but without education, you can’t thrive,” Kidali said.

“I’m not in school at the moment but I want to join a school right now. I would like to study sports science, that’s my target,” he added.

Meanwhile, the youngster opened his season with a win at the third Athletics Kenya weekend meet before proceeding to the trials for the African Games where he missed a slot in the national team after finishing fifth.

He did not rest on his laurels as he left the country to gain more experience in Spain, competing at the Meeting Jaén Paraiso Interior 2024 where he finished second.

Kidali was also in action at the Anhalt 2024 in Germany where he completed the podium in the race before jetting back into the country just in time for the Kenyan Olympic trials.

Kidali was off to a great start, finishing third in the preliminaries before extending the hot streak to seal a ticket to the Paris Olympic Games where he will be debuting.
