Tobi Amusan and Mbappe get global recognition of Top 100 Most Influential People

Tobi Amusan honoured alongside Kylian Mbappe in MIPAD's Top 100 Most Influential People of African Descent.

World champion Tobi Amusan has another recognition in her name, making the MIPAD's list alongside Kylian Mbappe in the Global Top 100 Under 40 edition for Most Influential People of African Descent.

According to MIPAD, the recognition is in accordance with the first pillar of the International Decade for People of African Descent and highlights individuals, organizations, and governments who have distinguished themselves in the advancement of people of African descent worldwide.

The Chief Executive Officer of MIPAD, Kamil Olufowobi, said that the global lists are in continuation of the group's effort towards highlighting the positive contributions made by people of African descent worldwide.

"We continue to amplify global black narratives and showcase the many untold stories of our struggles and triumphs in every corner of the world, sometimes in unexpected places and high positions," said Olufowobi.

Amusan got the recognition based on her historic performances in 2022, becoming Nigeria's first World champion and World Record holder in track and field.

She also successfully defended her Commonwealth Games and Diamond League titles in record-breaking times, becoming the first Nigerian athlete to accomplish this feat.

Other names listed include 43rd Miss Nigeria and Big Brother Baija Reality TV star Beauty Tukura, music legend Sade Adu, and American singer, songwriter, and actress Halle Bailey.
