The two exceptional athletes are set to face off in the semifinal of the men’s 1500m event at 6:30 p.m. today, creating an electrifying atmosphere for sports enthusiasts around the world.

2019 World champion Timothy Cheruiyot is looking forward to a tough face-off against World 5000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen as the duo heads to the semifinal of the men’s 1500m at 6:30 p.m. today.

Cheruiyot is aware that the world is looking forward to his clash against Ingebrigtsen and he is also looking forward to it.

Ingebrigtsen and Cheruiyot will be competing in Heat Two of the men’s semifinal which has also attracted youngster Reynold Cheruiyot.

“I know that the athletics world expects my battle with Jakob Ingebrigtsen and I looking forward to it as well,” he said in a post-race interview.

During the Heats of the men’s 1500m, Cheruiyot survived a scare after finishing sixth to narrowly secure a chance to the semifinal.

He blamed the slowness of the race on his performance but was grateful to have secured the chance at the next level.

"It was a crazy slow race. Honestly, I do not like races like that. That is why I try to run from the front after the first two laps to push all the runners a little bit. No matter, what happened today, I reached the semi-final and all my thoughts are already about the next race," he said.

He hopes to run a smart race and impress as he operates to reclaim his world title since the defending champion, Jake Wightman, pulled out due to an injury.

“I hope I'll run light and be smart in my tactics. I also hope it will be much faster to suit my current shape. I'm ready and I feel great. I have one world title and I have another ambition,” he said.
