Gabby Thomas quickly jumped to Noah Lyles' defence after a netizen shared an analysis of the race between the triple world champion and IShowSpeed and claimed that the YouTuber was close to beating the reigning Olympic champion.
Gabby Thomas has reacted to netizens claiming that Darren Jason Watkins Jr. known online as IShowSpeed or Speed was close to beating Noah Lyles in their 50m race on Thursday.
In a video posted by an X user, Feared Buck, who claimed that IShowSpeed looked strong and was close to stunning the triple world champion but Gabby Thomas, a triple Olympic champion, quickly jumped to Noah Lyles’ defence.
The X user defended his claims by noting that looking at the video in different angles, it would be easier to see how IShowSpeed was fast enough to almost topple over Noah Lyles.

After beating IShowSpeed in a 50m race, Noah Lyles declined a rematch, urging the 21-year-old to train for the US trials instead while he headed home to his fiancée and $100,000 prize.
“Different angles show how close IShowSpeed was to beating Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles 👀,” he said.
In reply to his statement, Gabby Thomas hilariously reacted: “This wasn’t close…like at all 😂.”
Meanwhile, in the race, Noah Lyles took on content creator IShowSpeed in a 50m race organised by Mr. Beast who would give a cash prize of $100,000 to the winner. It was expected that Noah Lyles would win the race and he did not fail to disappoint.
The three-time world 200m champion had a slow start from the blocks as IShowSpeed impressively got out of the blocks.
However, being an expert in sprinting, Lyles knew when he would strike and despite IShowSpeed trying to keep up, the reigning Olympic 100m champion was flying. At some point during the race, Noah Lyles even gave the YouTube sensation a stare.
As they approached the finish line, Lyles seemed to showboat a bit as he jumped across the finish line.

Noah Lyles urged IShowSpeed to train harder so they would meet at next year’s US trials and he would be given a chance to compete in all the rounds.
