Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs thinks his track rivals talk too much and think he is scared to compete but he has promised to bounce back and shock them next season.
Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs has had quite a tough 2023 season, being in and out of injuries and failing to make an impression at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
There was also an anticipated clash against former World champion Fred Kerley that was initially supposed to happen at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat but had to be postponed.

Alex Lagat received a positive result from the anti-doping control carried out at the finish line of the Tychy Half Marathon and his second-place finish will now be annulled.
The duo eventually clashed at the Meeting in Xiamen with Kerley finishing third as Jacobs faded to finish seventh.
The Italian, however, insisted that he was not in good shape hence the poor performance but promised to bounce bac stronger.
Speaking about his 2023 season, Jacobs noted that he is aware people think he is scared of competing but it’s simply because he had a few injury setbacks and could not show up fully to events.
He added that his rivals talk too much and he is aware of what they say but he tries not to focus on the negative side a lot.
“At the World Championships, I was happy to compete but a bit disappointed because I didn’t reach the final.
I wanted to put my face out there because people speak too much. They always think I’m scared to compete with the other guys but I’m not.

The Italian added that the main thing for him this season was just to show up and he is glad he did in the few races he could compete in. He noted that despite having injuries, he is proud of himself for pushing harder.
