Eliud Kipchoge was left in awe after getting mobbed in China as he passed on some marathon skills to young runners in the Asian country.
Two-time Olympics champion Eliud Kipchoge has expressed his delight at having inspired Chinese youth into running.
Kipchoge has been in China this week, courtesy of one of his sponsors, and took time to mentor young runners while encouraging them to embrace running to keep fit and healthy.
The marathon great was a huge attraction to the crowd in China as he was mobbed with autograph requests before later joining the youth for a run that he admits got him thinking of how he started his storied running career.

“Running with the young talented Chinese athletes here, full of ambition, they remind me of my own start in running,” Kipchoge posted on Instagram on Sunday.
“It is a pleasure to pass on the lessons I have learned along the way. Their energy fuels me in my mission to get people to start running and embrace a healthy lifestyle.
“The passion that I experience here in China, will be an inspiration for me when I am back home preparing for my next race.”
Kipchoge also took time to visit some of the major attractions in the Asian country, including the Great Wall of China.
“Yesterday was a wonderful day as I had the privilege of running on the Great Wall of China. It felt special to run here because you are running on history itself. Every step felt symbolic, a reminder of the power of human ambition and determination,” he posted on Saturday.
Kipchoge is looking to revive his fortunes next year after enduring a tough 2024 season when he managed 10th place in Tokyo before he failed to finish his Olympics marathon race.
