Eliud Kipchoge has shared a glimpse of the conversations he had with Manchester United players during his visit to Old Trafford.

Five-time Berlin Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge visited Old Trafford and impacted the lives of Manchester United players with wise words before departing.

During his visit, the four-time London Marathon champion spent a day at Carrington and watched the players train as he spoke with the coaching staff. Kipchoge then visited Old Trafford to attend the Reds’ Premier League match against Liverpool.

In his interactions, the two-time Olympic champion was able to inspire the lives of the players and staff, insisting on having a strong mindset to conquer whatever setback they may encounter.

As reported by Manchester United, Kipchoge explained that an athlete’s mentality is one of the most important things to be embraced and without having a strong mindset, most athletes fail to live up to expectations. He added that a strong mindset adds to the physicality of an athlete.

“Mindset is important for a sportsman and all the footballers. You must be physically fit but above all, you must be psychologically fit. What drives a man, what drives a woman, is the mind. If you are able to control the mind then you can control your body and you are able to consume the right things. Then out of that will come good things,” he said.

He added that during training sessions, athletes must embrace a strong mindset to be able to show up for each day. With a strong mindset, the former world marathon record holder believes anything is possible.

He added that maintaining a positive mindset is one of the key factors that helps athletes to win on the field and in life.

“In training, you must have a strong and high-profile mindset. Also, like playing the game, you need the right mind. The right mind is the right way. When you are tackling your opponent, with the right mind you are able to do well,” Kipchoge said.

“If you are sprinting for a ball, with the right mindset, you can sprint further than your opponent. The key is to be positive in life as always…you have to be positive in life every day, when you are asleep, day and night. That’s the beginning of good results. That’s the beginning of real professionalism,” he added.
