Reigning Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo has had quite an eventful season so far this year and he will be eyeing a great outing at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.
The Botswanan wunderkind started his season with a 300m world best at the Curro Podium Final, a world athletics continental tour. From his win at the event and breaking the world best, Tebogo walked away with more than $ 5000 (more than Ksh 645,000).
The 21-year-old proceeded to claim the win at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix 2 where he earned more than Ksh 140,000. Tebogo was not done with his exploits when he proceeded to claim the title at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix 3, a world athletics continental tour, where he walked away with approximately $ 5000 (Ksh 645,000).

Tebogo proceeded to finish second in the men’s 200m at the Kip Keino Classic where he bagged $3,000, about Ksh 390,000. He was part of the Botswanan team that won the men’s 4x400m relay team and pocketed US$40,000 (about Ksh 5.1 million).

He then finished second at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold level meeting where he bagged pocketed about $ 3,000 (more than Ksh 300,000). After the Los Angeles Grand Prix, Tebogo lost his mother, Seratiwa Tebogo and took time off from competing.
He resumed competitive running at the Africa Athletics Championships but did not get to the final of either the 100m or 4x100m relay due to the poor organisation of the event. He got dozens of rewards following his Paris Olympics performance. He is now a homeowner after being given two houses worth $300,000. Choppies, a leading supermarket chain gave Tebogo $112,482. Tebogo was also gifted $3,749 from Kwa Nokeng Oil, a tractor and $8,998 from Park 27.
After the Paris Olympic Games, Tebogo has been impressive in his performances. He claimed top honours at the Diamond League Meetings in Lausanne, Silesia, Rome and Zurich and he walked away with $10,000 from each of the events.
