Faith Kipyegon, Mary Moraa, Gabby Thomas, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith among other female stars will step on the track at the Icahn Stadium with the hope of making an impact and walk away with the hefty prize purse set aside as they end their seasons.
Three-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon, triple Olympic champion Gabby Thomas and reigning world champion Mary Moraa will be in action at Athlos, Alexis Ohanian’s women-only event scheduled for Thursday, September 26.
The event is one of the highest-paying athletics events, with a prize purse of $110,500 set aside for each race. The winners will walk away with $60,000, surpassing most of the athletics meets.
The athletes who finish second in the race will pocket $25,000 with third-place finishers walking away with $10,000. The female runners who cross the finish line fourth, fifth and sixth will bag $8,000, $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.

Nagoya Women’s Marathon 2025 opens doors to Kenyan runners
Nagoya Women’s Marathon invites Kenyan runners to join its 2025 race, offering virtual participation and luxurious finisher awards.
The inaugural event will be held at the Icahn Stadium in New York City and has attracted some of the greatest women in the history of running. On top of having Kipyegon, Thomas and Moraa in the line-up, other athletes include Olympic 400m champion Marileidy Paulino, Africa’s fastest woman Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith and Alexis Holmes.
Others who have been confirmed for the race are Daryll Neita, who is fresh from having great runs at the Olympic Games and Diamond League Meetings and Tamara Clark, who will be out to make an impact in the final races of their seasons.
Candance Hill and Addy Wiley will also be fighting for top honours and walking away with the prize money with Olympic bronze medallist and Diamond League champion Brittany Brown also in the mix.
Other women include Celera Barnes, Cory McGee, Olympian Susan Ejore, Lieke Klaver and Anavia Battle. Nia Akins and reigning world champion Danielle Williams have also confirmed participation at the event.
Former Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will also be in the mix, charged up for another win after claiming top honours at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels. Reigning Olympic champion Masai Russell will also be lining up, renewing the rivalry with Camacho-Quinn.
Katie Snowden and Tonea Marshall have also confirmed participation with Zoe Hobbs another athlete looking to give fans a great show.
