More than Ksh 10 million has been set aside for the athletes who impress at the World Road Running Championships in Latvia, Riga.
More than 300 athletes will be in action at Sunday’s World Road Running Championships with each athlete looking to emerge among the top four or six in order to be awarded the hefty prize money.
The Half Marathon will see the top 12 finishers being awarded with the winner walking away with Ksh 4,381,050. The second and third-place finishers will be awarded Ksh 2,190,525 and Ksh 1,752,420 respectively.

Samuel Prakle was supposed to wed his long-term girlfriend this weekend but had to postpone the wedding because of the World Road Running Championships.
Athletes who finish fourth, fifth, and sixth will have the honour of walking away with Ksh 1,314,315, Ksh 1,168,280, and Ksh 1,022,245 respectively.
The seventh-placed and eighth-placed athletes will also not be left out as they will be awarded Ksh 876,210 and Ksh 730,175.
The athletes who finish ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th will pocket Ksh 584,140, Ksh 438,105, Ksh 292,070 and Ksh 146,035.
Over the 5km distance, the top eight athletes will also be awarded with the winner walking away with Ksh 1,460,350. The athletes who finish second and third will bag Ksh 1,095,262 and Ksh 876,210 respectively.
The ones who finish fourth, fifth, and sixth will be awarded Ksh 438,105, Ksh 365,087, and Ksh 292,070 respectively. The seventh and eighth-place finishers will bag Ksh 219,052 and Ksh 146,035 respectively.
In the road mile, the top three finishers will bag Ksh 1,460,350, Ksh 876,210, and Ksh 511,122 respectively.
