Coach Glen Mills has detailed Oblique Seville's injury as he pointed out how they will be working smart to make him lethal in 2025.

Oblique Seville was one of the prospects to medal in the men’s 100m at the Paris Olympic Games but it was not a good day in the office for him as he faded to an eight-place finish in the final.

The Jamaican sprint sensation was off to a great start, winning the heats before beating Noah Lyles in the semifinal and securing a spot in the final.

However, tables turned in the final as he went on to finish eighth, crossing the finish line in 9.91 seconds. Seville had earlier confirmed that he had an injury but it was getting better before he headed to the Olympic Games.

However, in a recent interview with his coach Glen Mills, Sports Max reported that he had a couple of issues and his groin was just but one of them.

Usain Bolt’s former coach noted that the issues have since been addressed and Seville just jetted back into Jamaica from the US a few days ago. He explained that they are currently working step by step to get him into the right shape ahead of 2025.

“The groin was only one of the issues. His groin, I would say, is about 90-odd per cent healed, but there are some other issues with his bio-chemistry,” Mills said.

“He just came back from America, where he underwent tests and analysis. We are trying everything to get him to be at 100 per cent, and we are very hopeful that, eventually, we will solve the problems.”

Meanwhile, despite the injury setback, Seville has enjoyed an amazing season, especially at the start of 2024. He started out with a 400m race at the Camperdown Classic where he won the race before heading to the Velocity Fest 14 where he also claimed top honours.

Seville went on to shock Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles in the men’s 100m at the Racers Grand Prix, making him a favourite of the Jamaicans since he did that on home soil.

Going into the Olympic Games, it was evident that Seville was a medal contender but the slight injury affected him in the final.

At the Jamaican Olympic trials, the Jamaican wunderkind finished second behind Kishane Thompson as Ackeem Blake rounded up the podium.

This is the third time he is missing out on a podium place, following his fourth-place finishes at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships in Oregon and Budapest respectively.

Seville now eyes a great bounce back in 2025 with the intention of winning his first individual medal on the world stage.
