Olympics champions Tara Davis-Woodhall and Mondo Duplantis are among the big names nominated for the World Athletics Field Athlete of the Year Award.

OLympics champions Tara Davis-Woodhall and Mondo Duplantis lead the nominees for the World Athletics Field Athlete of the Year awards.

These athletes were selected by an international panel of athletics experts, comprising representatives from all six continental areas of World Athletics. In what has been another memorable year for the sport, the nominations reflect some of the standout performances achieved at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, World Athletics Indoor Championships, one-day meeting circuits and other events around the world.

Valarie Allman (USA) highlights the women's cadre. The 29-year-old is a two-time Olympics discus champion, powering herself to the podium in the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as well as showing her class in Paris this year. She was also crowned the Diamond League discus champion.

Tara Davis-Woodhall, USA, bagged Olympic long jump gold and is the World Indoor champion. In 2017, she set the American junior women's record in the indoor long jump.

Australia's Nina Kennedy reigned supreme in Paris with the pole vault gold and is also the Diamond League champion. Ukrainian long jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh was glorious in Paris where she also set the World high jump record while Belgian Nafissatou Thiam, set a world lead in Heptathlon.

In the men's category, Usa's Ryan Crouser, Jordan Alejandro (Spain), Mondo Duplantis (Sweden), Canada's Ethan Katzberg and Miltiadis Tentoglou of Greece are the nominees.

The vote to determine the Field Athlete of the Year finalists is now open on World Athletics social media platforms. It will close on 20 October. The United States has three of the 10 nominees, representing the country with the most number.
