Cabinet Secretary for Sports Kipchumba Murkomen is not relenting in his fight against doping amongst athletes in Kenya.
Murkomen met with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Africa Office Director Rodney Swigelaar, Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) chairman Daniel Makdwallo and ADAK CEO Sarah Shibutse to discuss issues surrounding fight against doping on Monday.
He reiterated the government's dedication to upholding the highest standards of integrity in sports, highlighting Kenya's need to remain vigilant in the fight against doping.

ADAK clear the air on status of Sh650 million in reserve allocated in 2022
ADAK were allocated 650 million shillings in 2022 to cater for the fight against doping in 2022, yet claim that they have only been granted 20 million shillings for the 2024/2025 financial year
"We are committed to complying with WADA regulations and implementing the audit recommendations to strengthen the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya," stated the CS, adding that Kenya is exploring the possibility of hosting a continental anti-doping conference to address doping issues.
ADAK has recently lamented a financial crisis that has slowed its operations following budget cuts for the 2024-25 financial year.
This comes on the back of rising doping cases as just day's ago Kenya’s Faith Chepkoech added to the list of shame as she was handed a doping ban after admission of guilt.

Upcoming long-distance runner Faith Chepkoech is the latest Kenyan athlete to be handed a doping ban after admitting to the use of a banned substance.
Other famous Kenyan athletes who have received doping bans include former Boston and Chicago Marathon winner Lawrence Cherono, Sevilla Marathon runners-up Josephine Chepkoech and Tokyo Olympics semi-finalist Michael Saruni.
