Dutch legend Sifan Hassan has been named Champion for Peace of the Year, adding another feather on her decorated cap.

The accolades keep coming for Dutch long distance legend Sifan Hassan as she has been awarded Champion for Peace of the Year at the 2024 Peace and Sport Awards.

This comes two days after Hassan was named World Athletics' Athlete of the Year and Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year.

Held at Monaco's Oceanographic Museum, the event celebrated sport's power to drive peace, inclusion, and societal change.

Hassan's remarkable journey, from refugee to world-class athlete, has been recognized by Peace and Sports to epitomize resilience and hope. Beyond her record-breaking performances in athletics, Hassan has become a global symbol of hope and perseverance, using her platform to inspire millions.

Her recognition as the Champion for Peace of the Year underscores her commitment to promoting inclusion and advocating for education and peace through sport.

"I am deeply honored to receive this award," said Hassan. "Sport has given me the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life, and I believe in its ability to unite us, break barriers, and create a better future."

Hassan had an incredible year when she won medals in three races at the Paris 2024 Olympics, having claimed gold in marathon and bronze in both 5,000m and 10,000m.
