Marco Arop has fired warning shots at Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Co following a recent career milestone.
Reigning world 800m champion Marco Arop is burning the midnight oil ahead of his title defence at next year’s World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
From his recent milestone, he has already sent warning shots at his rivals with Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi being one of the target audiences. Arop has already resumed training and is doing the most as far as his fitness is concerned.
In a post shared on X (Twitter) by Chris Chavez, an American sports journalist, Marco Arop claimed the win at the Back Half the Marathon Huntsville in Alabama, crossing the finish line in 1:11:16. Arop has been very consistent and has been running about 30 miles per week.

Arop also shared a post on his Instagram page after resuming training, noting that there is a lot of work to do but he remains focused on getting the job done.
“We’re back! The new season is here. We’ve got some new goals and a lot of work to do. This past season was beyond amazing, but we have to remain hungry and keep the focus,” Arop said.
This season has been a roller coaster for the Canadian runner who was forced to settle for silver behind Emmanuel Wanyonyi at the Paris Olympic Games. He only beat the Kenyan youngster once, at the Diamond League Meeting in Silesia.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi claimed the win as Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati came in second in the hotly contested race. Next season, he will be out to defend his title but owing to the competition that he will face, Arop has to put in the work.
The 800m has been competitive this season with fast times being run by the athletes and Emmanuel Wanyonyi ending the season as the second-fastest man in the world, thanks to his 1:41.11 that he ran in Lausanne. He tied his time with Wilson Kipketer’s with David Rudisha remaining as the fastest 800m runner.
