The global running community has yet again been thrown into mourning after the sudden demise of renowned marathoner Hosea Kiplagat.

In a tragic turn of events on Monday, Kiplagat collapsed and died on Monday evening in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County. According to reports by Nation, the renowned marathoner was with his four-year-old son when the sudden happenings occurred.

The Peru-based athlete had jetted into the country where he was finalizing the construction of a house before heading to Kapsowar where he would be training ahead of an upcoming assignment.

The 32-year-old’s death was confirmed by Elgeyo Marakwet Police County Commander Peter Mulinge who said: “The assistant chief of Mindililwo area reported an incident where a man was walking with his son from the shopping center.

“Eyewitnesses said that he sat down and complained of chest pains before he died on the spot. Police rushed to the scene and confirmed it was true.”
