Four male runners were quickly rushed to the hospital after encountering challenges at the Taipei City Marathon on Sunday morning.
Despite this year’s edition having the greatest number of athletes competing, the Taipei City Marathon suffered a major setback after four runners were sent to the hospital.
The marathon happened on Sunday, December 17, with tons of international athletes from 62 countries vying for top honours.

Ferdinand Omanyala has come out to share about the struggles and backlash he faced at the start of his sprinting career.
As reported by the Taiwan News, three runners suffered out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and another had a stroke during the race.
The three male runners were aged 26, 46, and 50, and they suffered from OHCA but received emergency treatment and according to close sources, they are in stable condition.
According to Liberty Times, the other runner, 42, who suffered a stroke has also recovered.
Meanwhile, an approximate number of 30,000 runners assembled in the chilly morning at the front of Taipei City Hall for the marathon on Sunday, which concluded at Taipei Municipal Stadium.

ATHLETICS 2024 Valencia Marathon organisers announce millions set aside for world record breakers
The race organisers of the 2024 Valencia Marathon have announced that more than Ksh 150 million will be awarded to athletes who break world records.
The 50-year-old man who suffered OHCA reportedly felt unwell at 9:15 a.m. and collapsed on Gangdong Street in Taipei’s Nangang District and he was sent in an ambulance to Neihu’s Tri-Service General Hospital.
The Taipei City Government Department of Sports said medical doctors were deployed to assist runners during the marathon, which enabled the four individuals to quickly receive medical assistance.
On his part, Ethiopia's Dechasa Alemu Moreda won the men's category with a total time of 2:11:56. The women's category was in turn won by Ethiopian Obse Abdeta Deme with a time of 2:27:14.
