Shericka Jackson broke her silence, explaining why she could not compete at the Paris Olympics and what next for her as she seeks a strong comeback.

Shericka Jackson has finally broken her silence following her disastrous Olympic campaign, which saw her pull out of the women’s 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relays.

The two-time world 200m champion shared a lengthy post on her Instagram page, explaining how devastated she was after being unable to compete at the Olympics.

She noted that after the double win at the Jamaican Olympic trials, she wanted to win Jamaica three medals at the Paris Olympics but her injury could not let her. Jackson pulled up an injury competing in the women’s 200m at the Gyulai István Memorial.

She landed at the Olympic Village in Paris with fingers crossed that her injury would get better before race day but unfortunately, God had other plans. Jackson started by withdrawing from the women’s 100m before announcing that she would not start in the 200m a few hours before the race. She also confirmed to not be available for the 4x100m relay.

“Should I accept the good and not the bad? My 2024 Olympic dream has been shattered. In my 10 years as a senior athlete, I have enjoyed the highest highs and some of the lowest lows. From winning World Championships and Olympics Gold medals, to not performing at my very best,” Jackson said.

“Having won the sprint double at the 2024 Jamaican Olympic trials, I was hopeful that I would earn three more Olympic medals for Jamaica Land I love. However, injury has intervened. The feedback on my inability to compete here in Paris has been encouraging and discouraging,” she added.

Following her withdrawal, she extended a hand of gratitude to her fans across the globe for showering her with unwavering support.

The two-time world 100m silver medallist was also in awe of the support from her family, friends, coach and sponsors including Puma and Omega. She now shifts focus to recovery before taking to the starting line once again.

“I sincerely thank everyone who has encouraged me at this most challenging time, especially my sponsors Puma, scotiabankjam, officialwata and Omega, my coach and my entire team at the MVP Track and Field Club, my family, my friends and very importantly my fans in Jamaica and around the world. My primary focus now is a complete recovery,” she wrote.
