Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce knows she will face strong opposition from Sha'Carri Richardson, Shericka Jackson, and Co. and has disclosed the mindset she will enter the stadium with on race day.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is aware of the tough competition awaiting her once she steps foot on the purple track for the women’s 100m at the Paris Olympic Games.

Fraser-Pryce will be up against a strong cast comprising Sha’Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson, Shericka Jackson and youngster Tia Clayton.

The Jamaican sprint queen, however, told Jamaica Observer that she is not afraid strong women she will race against, noting that she is also burning the midnight oil to ensure she is not easily taken out.

She added that when preparing for any championship, she always knows that there will be tough opponents and she goes into races with a strong mindset.

“The field is always tough at the Olympic Games, you know, it’s once in four years. When anyone lines up I think it’s all about doing their best because for some people, this is one shot because the Olympics are four years apart,” she told Jamaica Observer in a video shared on X.

“So, I’m always of the expectation that it’s going to be competitive no matter where I’m at, whether it’s a track meet or world championship,” she added.

The three-time Olympic champion added that this being her final Olympic Games, she has enjoyed herself, going to watch a rugby game for the first time.

Fraser-Pryce noted that she is now investing time in training since track and field action starts on Thursday, August 1, and she will hope to have a great exit from the Olympic Games.

“This is my final Olympic Games and I think this time around I have been having a good experience with the Olympic spirit and just meeting people and yesterday I went to rugby…it was my first time going for a rugby match,” she added.

“I will be racing this week and that’s actually the last competition I get to watch before I get to run. It has been a great experience and village life is good. So far it has been good and I’m always excited to step on the track and I think that’s where you unleash your experience and how the training has been going.

“Making my fifth Olympic Games is crazy and considering it is the fifth-straight Olympic Games is crazy. God has been good to me and has kept me.”
