Glen Mills, now coaching Tobi Amusan, has praised her professionalism and warned her 100m hurdles rivals of improvements under his guidance ahead of 2025.

Usain Bolt’s former coach Glen Mills has fired warnings to Masai Russell, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Ackera Nugent and other formidable 100m hurdles runners ahead of 2025.

This comes after he started coaching Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the world record holder over the distance and he has outlined a few qualities about the former world champion that should send some chills down the spines of her competitors.

In an interview with Sports Max, Mills disclosed that he has worked with a few women and Amusan is one of the exceptional talents that he has gotten a chance to work with.

The Nigerian hurdling star was previously coached by Jamaican Olympian Lacena Golding-Clarke, has secretly been training under the guidance of Glen Mills since September and they have now come out to confirm that they are working together.

Glen Mills has been successful in coaching Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and is currently moulding Oblique Seville. He will also be looking to work smartly with the Nigerian who has struggled in the past two seasons.

He singled out Amusan as a very dedicated athlete and he has had no troubles working with her thus far. Mills further noted that she has a positive attitude towards training and that makes it easier for both of them to work.

“It has been a joy working with her because she is a true professional. She brings to the table an approach that is really refreshing. People believe that I don’t coach women, but I have had experience with quite a few,” Mills said.

“I had Aleen Bailey for a year back in the day, and also people like Olympian Cathy Rattray and Olympic medalist Kerron Stewart. She works very hard, she is very conscientious, and I can see why she is the world record holder. She brings that to the table in how she approaches her training, and she is easy to get along with."

Mills added that they always discuss everything and ensure everyone is comfortable before implementing the new rules.

He is enjoying working with Amusan, an indication that if all goes well, next year will be a memorable one for the athlete and coach.

Mills specifically mentioned that there were things Amusan wanted addressed and they are working together towards making the dream come true.

“We discuss our strategies from time to time. It’s been a nice experience; she is into it and enjoying it,” he added.

“There were certain things she wanted us to work on, and it’s going well. Already, I have seen improvement, and she is excited about it because she feels like she is making more progress.”
