The 19-year-old hopes that her 100m win at the World Under-20 Championships has sent a message to her haters.
Sha’Carri Richardson’s training mate Alana Reid has a message to the doubters following her dominant victory at the World Under-20 Championships in Peru, Lima.
The Jamaican youngster clocked an impressive 11.17 seconds to cross the finish line first ahead of Adaejah Hodge who came in second in a time of 11.27 seconds. Kishawna Niles rounded up the podium, clocking an impressive time of 11.37 seconds to cross the finish line.
After her win, Reid noted that it was a message to her doubters, showing them what she is capable of and insisted that it was just the beginning. She added that this was her last year as a junior athlete and she wanted to exit it in style.

Sha'Carri Richardson's Jamaican training mate wins World Under-20 Championships 100m title
The 19-year-old was in a class of her own as she destroyed a strong field, claiming the women's 100m title in a time of 11.17 seconds.
The 19-year-old, speaking to Flo Track, pointed out that the weather was not favourable but she managed to defy all odds and claim the top honours in the race.
“It shows me that I should never give up on anything I believe I can achieve and it’s just for me to come out here and give my best. I did that even though it was a bit chilly but I told myself that I have a goal and this is my World Juniors and I wanted to leave with something that I could look back on. Coming out here tonight I gave my best and I’m pleased with my performance,” Reid said.
“I just wanted to execute a great race and I knew I was strong and I knew what I was capable of doing and I knew that I did it for my team and the people back home because there were a lot of people who doubted me and the rest of my team but nevertheless, I came out here and did my best,” she added.
She dedicated her gold medal to her late uncle who was a very instrumental person in shaping her sprinting career.
Reid was also part of the Jamaican team that competed in the women’s 4x100m relay team where Team Jamaica finished fifth as Team USA reigned supreme.
“I dedicate this to my uncle who passed away in April and this is something that he would really want to see from me and knowing that I came out tonight and did it just for him, it just shows me how strong I am,” she said.
