Having bounced back from things that would break any other athlete, Sha'Carri Richardson has revealed the qualities a true winner must have.

Reigning world 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson has opened up about the qualities a true winner should have and from her definition, she certainly makes one.

The Olympic 100m silver medallist noted that whether through losing, winning or drawing, a true winner always has the ability to bounce back and remains unshaken by such setbacks.

She alluded that a true winner is always focused on what is ahead rather than looking back to what happened, whether they lost or won. Sha’Carri Richardson shared the post on her Instagram stories, affirming that she is a true winner and also encouraging her followers to embrace such iconic traits.

“Win, lose, draw, but always get back up. A true winner,” the post read.

Sha’Carri Richardson has proven to be a true winner from time to time and how this majorly resonates with her was when she missed an opportunity to represent the US at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games due to a ban but she bounced back even stronger.

She received a one-month ban after testing positive for cannabis, a banned substance under World Anti-Doping Agency Rules and had to miss the Olympic trials. She made a strong comeback in 2022 but her performance at the trials was not enough for her to secure a spot to the World Championships on home soil.

The 2023 season was off to a great start for her as she managed to win the US trials and proceed to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Richardson claimed the win in the women’s 100m, beating Shericka Jackson and defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to second and third place respectively.

Sha’Carri Richardson then anchored the women’s 4x100m relay team to victory. She made the team to this year’s Paris Olympic Games and was a favourite to win a gold medal but was forced to settle for silver as a Julien Alfred took the win in the women’s 100m.

The 24-year-old bounced back to winning ways in the women’s 4x100m relay race where she anchored Team USA to victory. She then got her sweet revenge over Julien Alfred at the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich but failed to show up one more time at the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels where she faded to an eighth-place finish.
