Sha'Carri Richardson has shared how she managed to bounce back this season after her doping ban in 2021.

After her successful 2023 season, Sha’Carri Richardson has opened up on her comeback to the track and what it took her to get to that level.

Richardson was handed a one-month ban for an anti-doping rule violation for the presence of marijuana in her system back in 2021.

She was primed for greatness at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics but her results during the US Olympic trials were stripped off and she had to start over from scratch.

However, the American did not give up on her dream and last year, she kept going despite missing out on a ticket to the World Championships that were staged on American soil (Eugene, Oregon).

Speaking about her comeback on Real Talk with Tee’s YouTube channel, Richardson said: “That process has really just been…hard work pays off, never giving up pays off, keeping your faith pays off, and being in tune with your star player pays off.

I am just always super grateful and I always keep in mind that there’s so much more to come and there’s so much more I can craft and get better. So, I’m excited about it.”

Richardson announced her return this season when she ran a world-leading time during the heats of the US trials for the World Championships. She has also made impressions in the Diamond League Meetings with her impressive performance and has only lost two races over the 100m.

She tasted her first loss at the Gyulai István Memorial, a Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix where she finished second and completed her track season with a fourth-place finish at the Prefontaine Classic, the final Diamond League Meeting.

Her major success this season was at the World Championships where she stunned the Jamaican dup of Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce to carry the day at the Hungarian capital.

She equaled Jackson’s world-leading time of 10.65 to win the race in commanding fashion.
