Noah Lyles went above and beyond for Junelle Bromfield during the 2024 Paris Olympics, proving love knows no bounds.
Sometimes love goes beyond the confines of the track and no one demonstrated this better than American sprinter Noah Lyles during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Hours after securing a dramatic victory in the 100-meter final, Lyles found himself on a mission that had nothing to do with running but everything to do with supporting his fiance, Jamaican track star Junelle Bromfield.
On the morning of August 4, as Lyles celebrated his gold medal win in the 100 meters by the narrowest of margins—beating Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson by just five one-thousandths of a second—he received an urgent phone call.

Bromfield, who was preparing for her 400-meter heat later that same day, found herself in a bind. She had accidentally left her running spikes at her massage therapist's Airbnb, which was located near the Olympic Village.
"I had to do boyfriend duties last night. I had to go and pick up her bag from our Airbnb and bring it to her late, late last night,” Lyles shared with ESPN.
“So not only was I the Olympic champion, I was the savior of the spikes last night.”

'The track gods may see fit' - When Christian Coleman believed Usain Bolt’s 100m world record was in danger
American sprinter Christian Coleman made a bold claim about Usain Bolt’s 100m record, suggesting it could soon be broken.
This late-night task was not just an act of love but a necessity for Bromfield, who needed her spikes to compete in her upcoming event.
As a professional athlete herself, Bromfield understood the importance of every piece of gear in securing a win.
Her 400-meter race later that morning would mark a crucial moment in her Olympic journey, and without the right footwear, her chances would have been compromised.
But Lyles did not hesitate as despite having just completed the 100-meter dash, he packed up his own things and headed out into the Paris night to retrieve Bromfield’s spikes.
“So here I am at 2 a.m., waddling with a spike bag, my bag and some toiletries, and I’m like, ‘Huh. Here I am, Olympics champion, 100 meters, waddling to my girlfriend’s room with all this stuff,’” Lyles laughed, recounting the unusual situation.
Monday, August 5, marked another milestone for the couple as it was their two-year anniversary.

After winning his round 1 heat, he placed second in the semifinal and ultimately secured a bronze medal in the final.
Though he fell short of becoming the first male sprinter since Usain Bolt to win both the 100- and 200-meter gold medals at the same Olympics, Lyles' performances still stood as a testament to his immense talent.
