Sarah Moraa has expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Sports and Athletics Kenya for establishing the youth camps that will be beneficial to the young athletes as they look to build long-lasting careers for themselves.
The reigning world under-20 800m champion explained that when she was still in school, it was extremely difficult for her to perform at the Athletics Kenya weekend meets when she would get a chance to compete there.

She revealed to KBC Sport that once schools were closed, there was nowhere she could train or if she did, then it would be very minimal training and she would not be able to show up fully in other races.
She explained that the establishment of the camps would change a lot of things and it would give hope to the young athletes that they would also prosper and have a great transition to the senior category.
“I used to run in high school and that was just it and then sometimes when we used to come for weekend meetings, I would not perform well because we never used to train and if we did, then it was very minimal training. Things are not like right now and I’m glad that we have the youth camps,” Sarah Moraa said.
The youngster is keenly following in Mary Moraa’s footsteps as she hopes to become one of the greatest 800m runners in the world. Moraa started her season with a series of Athletics Kenya weekend meets before finishing third at the African Games national trials.
She also raced at the Kip Keino Classic but failed to finish the race before heading to the Kenyan Championships and Kenyan Olympic trials where she finished second and third respectively.
