Sandrafelis Chebet has disclosed the two events she will be looking forward to this season after an amazing start to her 2024 campaign.

Sandrafelis Chebet has set her eyes on the All-African Games in Ghana and Olympic Games in Paris, France after a great start to her season.

Chebet of National Police reigned supreme in the 10,000m at the second Athletics Kenya Meet where she clocked 32:35.43 to cut the tape ahead of Rebecca Njeri Mwangi of Central Region, who finished second after clocking 33:10.88. Mary Munanu of Eastern Regio completed the podium in 33:25.43.

The qualification time for the All African Games is 35:20.00 and Chebet will be seeking to hit that time before the window period elapses. In order for her to qualify for the Olympic Games, Chebet has to clock 30:40.00 to make the cut.

The Ulinzi Sports Complex is not recognised as a standard stadium by World Athletics hence the times posted there are not considered accurate.

“At the moment, I am striving hard to make Team Kenya for the All-African Games or the Olympics. I will be grateful to God for the opportunity I will get,” Chebet said after the race.

Chebet also extended a hand of gratitude to her competitors and explained that they pushed her to achieve the targets.

“The competition was not that tough today…I thank God that I have run well today (Friday). I also appreciate my competitors for pushing me because, without them, I wouldn’t have been in position one," she said.

"This was my first track and field weekend meet. The weather was not challenging because we are used to it. My body is responding well.”
