Gabby Thomas celebrated her gold medal win in the 200m at the Paris Olympics by choosing a personal, intimate celebration.

Three years ago at the Tokyo Summer Games, Gabby Thomas had to settle for bronze in the women's 200m final.

Fast forward to the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 27-year-old American sprinter turned her disappointment into triumph claiming her first-ever gold medal in the same event at Stade de France.

Julien Alfred of St. Lucia, who had earlier captured gold in the 100meters final in Saint-Denis, finished with the silver medal, while fellow American Brittany Brown, a took bronze.

This victory in the 200m was just the beginning for Thomas at the Paris Games, where she went on to win two additional gold medals in the women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay events.

However, despite her monumental success, Thomas made a surprising decision to forgo the star-studded closing ceremony, where celebrities like Tom Cruise, Simone Biles, and Billie Eilish were in attendance to celebrate the end of another thrilling international competition.

Instead, Thomas chose to spend her final night in Paris in a more intimate and personal setting.

"I spent the night in Paris with my friends and family," Thomas shared as reported by People.

"We went out to dinner, and I got to spend some time with them since I was so busy the whole time. It was so refreshing and just so nice and [I] got to celebrate having three medals."

For Thomas, the decision to skip the closing ceremony was rooted in her desire to share the momentous occasion with those who have supported her throughout her journey.

The track star had been focused and busy throughout the competition, so spending time with her loved ones was a way to unwind and savor her achievements in a meaningful way.

Her gold medal in the 200m was just the beginning of a stellar performance at the Games.

Thomas also played a pivotal role in the women’s 4x100m relay and the women’s 4x400m relay.

In the latter event, which took place on August 10, Thomas, alongside Shamier Little, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, and Alexis Holmes, set a new American Record with a time of 3:15.27.

The victories marked a historic achievement for the U.S. team and cemented Thomas’s place as one of the standout athletes of the Paris Olympics.
