Four-time Olympic medallist Ato Boldon has predicted his top three finishers of the men’s 100m at the Paris Olympic Games as he explained why Kishane Thompson will give Noah Lyles a run for his money.
Speaking on Letsrun.com, Boldon insisted that Lyles and Thompson have the same running style, just like Asafa Powell and going head-to-head, the final will be all about execution.
The retired Trinidadian sprinter explained that Thompson is the favourite following his stunning world leading time of 9.77 at the Jamaican Olympic trials. The sprint king has had an injury setback that has tormented him and saw him miss the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

However, the politician explained that Lyles also has the ability to show the world his capabilities once again after his personal best time at the Diamond League Meeting in London.
“The favourite is Thompson and I know Noah is the world champion. I think Noah made it a little bit more interesting by running that 9.81 seconds into a headwind, which kind of almost converts to 9.77 seconds but there’s no way you can look at the way in which Thompson ran that 9.77 seconds and just go, oh, no Noah will beat him,” Boldon said.
“Noah is going to have his hands full with that guy and I think the most interesting thing about this is that I think he and Noah have a very similar race patterns. I look at this guy Thompson and I go, this is Asafa Powell, and Asafa Powell would have been a problem for anyone,” he added.
