Julius Yego has bid an emotional farewell to his beloved javelin, which played a key role in his success.
The 2015 world javelin champion Julius Yego lost one of his javelins that had been very instrumental in shaping his career after it broke.
Julius Yego shared the news on his Facebook page, detailing how he started his career with the javelin that has been a part of his many accomplishments.
He detailed that when he won the world title at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing in a new African record time, he had trained with it. At the event, Julius Yego cleared a stunning 92.72m to win.

“It’s been 8 years of sheer dedication to my training and sometimes competitions and you managed to endure the hard landing on the tough surface, you made me an Olympic silver medal in Rio 2016 and multiple African champion and most importantly world champion in Beijing 2015 with an African record with it 92,72m, thank so much.
“As you go to my archives now am excited you were the best friend. You were a lover of long flying, rest now, my airglider, javelin."

“Am happy that the big manufacturers of Nordic Sport have volunteered to gift me a new javelin for my training purposes. Thank you, so much @Nordic Sport, for the gesture. Here we go brand new Valhalla Full Carbon NXB in the air flying to Kenya way from Sweden 💪,” he shared.
Meanwhile, Julius Yego is working hard in training with the main focus being to qualify for the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The Kenyan javelin star has struggled with injuries in the past but at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, he announced his comeback with an impressive fifth-place finish in the final. This was after years of struggling to make it through the qualifying stage.
He has quashed retirement rumours with a comeback plan and will be out to defy age if he makes the Kenyan team to the global event.
