Hall set a new world lead with his dominating performance in the 400m of the Monaco Diamond League.

American sprint sensation Quincy Hall has proven he is on course to win gold in the 400 meters at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games after setting a new world lead of 43.80.

Hall, who won the USATF Olympic trials in the category, crossed the finish line ahead of fellow American Vernon Norwood, who also recorded a seasonal best of 44.34. Lythe Pille of South Africa completed the podium.

“There was no any difference in today's and any other race. I knew I can run fast,” Hall stated after the race.

“After American trials I knew I needed to step up my game a little bit and that it would be enough to run this fast.”

“I feel like I have a lot more in my tank. I just need to start strong and then I can finish strong as well. Going to Paris, I do not feel like I have a target on my back.”

Hall's performance has set high expectations for his potential showing at the Paris Olympic Games, where he aims to clinch the gold medal.

With his current form and confidence, Hall is undoubtedly a strong contender in the 400 meters event, promising an exciting race at the Olympics.

The 25-year-old ran a personal best (44.17) at Oregon's Hayward field, catching 2022 World Champion Michael Norman (44.41) on the final turn.

Hall has only been competing in the 400m for the past two years, switching from the 400m hurdles after the 2022 season.

After receiving All-American honors at COS, Hall transferred to the University of South Carolina where he won the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 400m hurdles.

The opening ceremonies for the 2024 Olympic games begin Friday, July 26 in Paris.
