Records are expected to fall at this year's New York City Half Marathon which has assembled global running stars including Olympic medallists and Major Marathon winners.

The New York City Half Marathon takes center stage on Sunday, March 17, and will certainly look to showcase a brilliant array of talents from Kenenisa Bekele to Edna Kiplagat among other accomplished road runners.

Legendary marathoner Bekele from Ethiopia will be making his second appearance in the streets of New York City, this time round taking the shorter distance. Bekele comes into the race with the much-needed confidence after finishing fourth at last year’s Valencia Marathon.

He has plans to make the cut to the Olympic team of Ethiopia ahead of the Paris showpiece and believes he has all it takes for that.

Conner Mantz and Clayton Young will lead the US contingent following their top-two finishes at the Olympic Marathon Trials. Mantz will be looking to build on his previous performance at the NYC Half, aiming to enhance his preparation for Paris 2024.

On his part, Young is excited for his debut at the event and will be looking to stun champions like Bekele, one of the greatest distance runners in history.

Meanwhile, the women’s open division is also competitive having attracted the likes of Kiplagat, Des Linden, and Jenny Simpson alongside other international stars aiming for glory.

Linden, a former Boston Marathon champion, will look to impress one more time while Simpson will be making her half-marathon debut. Other international contenders include Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal, Fatima Gardadi, and Malindi Elmore.

The 2024 edition of the United Airlines NYC Half is not only just a race but also brings together global stars, some to have a great build-up for the Olympic Games with others hoping to simply give their best.
