Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has sent a heartfelt statement after withdrawing from the Paris 2024 100m due to an undisclosed injury.

Two-time Olympic 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has released a heartfelt statement expressing her profound disappointment after withdrawing from the 100-meter semifinal at the Paris Games.

The celebrated sprinter made a sudden exit from the competition lineup leaving fans and fellow athletes in shock.

Olympic officials confirmed that Fraser-Pryce suffered an undisclosed injury during the warm-up session, which led to her non-participation in a highly anticipated race against competitors like Sha’Carri Richardson and Julien Alfred.

Alfred went on to claim victory over Richardson, securing the gold medal in both the semifinal and the final rounds.

In her statement released early Sunday morning, Fraser-Pryce shared her emotional turmoil, not delving into the specifics of her withdrawal but focusing on the impact of the moment.

"It is difficult for me to find the words to describe the depth of my disappointment. I know that my supporters share and shoulder this disappointment with me," she wrote.

The Jamaican sprinter further emphasized the support she has received throughout her illustrious career, which began with her Olympic debut in 2008.

"I am truly Blessed to have had the steadfast support of my fans since my Olympic debut in 2008. The support of my fans, my country, and the larger community has rooted me in immense gratitude that has sustained me throughout my career," she added.

Fraser-Pryce also reflected on the spiritual dimension of her journey, which has been a cornerstone of her strength and perseverance.

"With every step and win, you all have been there for me. My Faith has always affirmed my trust in my journey. Thank you for continuing to be with me today and every day," she concluded.

While the specifics of her injury remain somewhat vague, sources close to Fraser-Pryce revealed to Pulse Sports that she sustained a hamstring injury during the warm-up.

The severity of this injury is still unclear, and it has left her fans and the athletics community speculating about her ability to compete in future events.

Despite this setback, Fraser-Pryce is scheduled to participate in the Jamaican 4x100m relay team offering a glimmer of hope that she might still leave Paris with a medal.
