Julius Yego is confident of unleashing something great as he heads to the final of the men's javelin at the Paris Olympic Games.
Julius Yego hopes to go one place better in the men’s javelin final scheduled for Thursday, August 8 at the Paris Olympics.
Yego noted that he had a great feeling going into the qualification round where he managed to throw 85.97m, finishing second behind German Webber Julian, who threw 87.76m in the Group ‘A’ qualifiers.
The African champion noted that going into the final, he hopes to maintain the patience and keep his technique right as he looks to make an impact in his fourth appearance at the Olympic Games.

Kenya’s Julius Yego had an impressive throw to seal qualification to the final at the Paris Olympics.
He admitted that the qualification stage was competitive and a bit tense and was glad to have secured a slot in the final following his magical throw to bounce back to his form.

“I hope on Thursday I will have a good throw and I had a great feeling in the warmup area and I knew that I would have a good throw and I really needed that patience. I feel like the body is ready to throw nother javelin and I just need to take it easy and get the technique right and it will be even bigger,” Yego said.
“Qualification is a bit tense and it was too high, you know, 84m and I knew that it was possible because when I woke up, I knew there was something good,” he added.

Two techniques Yego is working on in order to put his indifferent form behind him and deliver at the Olympics where it matters most.
The 2016 Rio Olympic Games silver medallist added that his training in Miramas was an added advantage to work on his technique.
The 35-year-old noted that he has proved to the world he still has it in him to impress and as he heads to the final, he hopes to do much better.
“Miramas was a good place to train and we were really focusing on technique and speed, because I’m not a power thrower. I have a very good block among the javelin throwers,” Yego said.
“I really needed to prove that I can still do it and this throw today has made be believe that I still have more years to throw because I didn’t struggle to throw. The feeling is back and I’m excited to have a season best,” he added.
