Track and field as the Olympic sport led proceedings in record-breaking ticket sales at Paris 2024 Games.

Paris 2024 Olympics made history in its ticket sales with a record-breaking number that now supersedes the London 2012 Games.

The organisers said on Sunday, September 8 that Paris 2024 sold a record 12 million tickets for the Olympics and Paralympics, beating the Games record previously set by London 2012.

According to Reuters, Some 9.5 million tickets were sold for the Olympics and 2.5 million for the Paralympics, which ended on Sunday.

In 2012, London organisers set the record for the Paralympics with 2.7 million tickets sold but only 8.2 million were sold for the Olympics.

The Paris 2024 Olympics concluded on a high as all sports and events had high turnouts of spectators for both the morning and evening sessions.

For instance, the Stade de France, the country’s largest stadium, was transformed into the Olympic Stadium for track and field sport, after three decades of hosting France’s biggest sports events.

The 77,083-seat stadium was always filled to capacity during the days of competitions, making the sport the most followed and captivating sport at the end of the Games.
