He started off his campaign on a good start during the Heats where he finished second behind American Noah Lyles.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has qualified for the men’s 100m final race by a whisker at the ongoing World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

During the just-concluded semifinal, Omanyala looked comfortable starting out of the blocks but unfortunately faded to finish in third place and qualify as one of the fastest losers in the men's final. 

World 200m champion Noah Lyles took top honours one more time, clocking 9.87 to cross the finish line. Japan’s Abdul Hakim Sani Brown finished second in 9.97 as Omanyala completed the podium after clocking a time of 10.01. 

Only the first two athletes in all the heats will proceed automatically to the final of the event scheduled for later today. The two fastest losers will also qualify for the do-or-die assignment.

The Commonwealth Games champion clocked 9.97 while Lyles won the race in 9.95 to also qualify for the semifinal. Nigeria’s Usheoritse Itsekiri sealed the podium after clocking 10.17.
