The Commonwealth Games champion cruised to the finish line in 9.96 ahead of Meshack Babu of KDF who clocked 10.50.

Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has revealed his next port of call is at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco on July 21 as he prepares for the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

He revealed that he is planning to shock the masses as he heads to the microstate off the Mediterranean coast of southeastern France.

He observed that the reason why he did not perform well in the previous Diamond League Meetings was due to fatigue and short preparation time before the races.

He has so far been to three Diamond League Meetings where he finished third in Rabat, Morocco, and finished second in both Florence, Italy, and Paris, France.

"Going forward, I'm done with racing for a couple of days because my next race is in Monaco before we head to the World Championships.

"My body is responding well right now...in my previous Diamond Leagues I didn't have enough to rest and I was in almost five different zones in one month. The Monaco event will show the whole world what to expect at the World Championships," he said.

During the just concluded National Championships at the Nyayo National Stadium, the Commonwealth Games champion cruised to the finish line in 9.96 ahead of Meshack Babu of KDF who clocked 10.50. Hesbon Ochieng of Kenya Prisons sealed the podium in 10.58.

He revealed that his body is in top shape and he was happy with the results he had posted.

"I've been here since morning and I have enjoyed running the relays which set the pace. My body has been responding well and my target has been achieved.

"I was intending to run 10.00 and I'm so excited that I've even run a lower time. I have won this for Kenya Police and I feel glad to give them that gold," he said.

The newly crowned National Champion was also bullish about maintaining his impeccable form until the global showpiece scheduled for Saturday, August 19 to 27.

"I'm completely fine and today I've done like three runs and I feel like going on. The main thing is just to maintain and work on it. My coach and team understand what they are doing and my job is to show up and perform," he said.
