Kipsang and Ingebrigtsen last clashed at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in the men’s 1500m.
Instead, Botswana’s wunderkind Letsile Tebogo finished second and became the first African to win a medal, just at 20 year’s old. Omanyala explained that he faced some challenges during the final and his body did not respond well, leading to his poor show.
“My body wasn't just firing from the semifinal as it did in the heats. We just have to go back and see what happened and see where to correct and see what to do best next time,” he said at the time.
Since the unceremonious exit from the World Championships, Omanyala was silent on social media and his coach Duncan Ayiemba noted that he had taken a break from social media.
During his break on social media, Omanyala has competed in two races, where he finished second behind Jamaica’s Seville Oblique in both races.
