Omanyala has joined Team Kenya's pre-Olympics training, focusing on health for a medal-winning performance at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

After his trail-blazing FBK Games victory on Sunday, Kenya’s Commonwealth 100 meters champion Ferdinand Omanyala has joined Team Kenya at their pre-Olympics training camp in Miramas, France.

This strategic move places him in an optimal position as he prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics, a mere 740 kilometers north of the camp.

Omanyala, fresh off his win where he recorded a stunning time of 10.01 seconds, beating close competitors such as the United States' Ronnie Baker and Canada’s Andre de Grasse, has settled in well at the camp.

His recent victory followed an impressive performance last month, where he set a season's best of 9.79 seconds at the national trials held at Nyayo National Stadium.

Speaking about his preparation, Omanyala shared his thoughts on what it will take to succeed at the Olympics.

“We’re getting into camp towards the Olympics and we’ll see what happens in Paris. What I think is needed for a medal? Being healthy man. Being healthy is the most important,” he revealed before heading to Miramas as per Capital Sports.

Joining him at the camp are other notable Kenyan athletes, including Africa javelin champion Julius Yego and 400m national champion Zablon Ekwam.

They are part of a larger contingent that includes various specialists in sprinting and field events, all under the watchful eyes of National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) Executive Member, Paul Otula.

The camp in Miramas is buzzing with activity as athletes from different disciplines converge to fine-tune their skills.

The National Men’s Sevens Team was the first to arrive on Tuesday, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense and productive preparation period.

They will soon be joined by the National Volleyball Team, Malkia Strikers, who are scheduled to arrive on Thursday morning just in time for the official pre-camp opening ceremony later that evening.
