Kenyan duo of Ferdinand Omanyala and flying hurdler Wiseman Were will be in action at the second ASA Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, April 19, at the Germiston Athletics Stadium in South Africa.
As has become the norm, Omanyala and his 100m heroics will be at the center of attention the Kenya Defense Forces' rising star Were hopes to grab his second successive 400M Hurdles win in the Grand Prix series.

Africa’s fastest man is gearing up for back-to-back victories on South African soil next week
The race has attracted a fine field including Botswana’s Thapelo Monaiwa, John Adesola, and youngster Sherwan Van Staden, competing on home soil. Long jumper and sprinter Cheswill Johnson and Rivaldo Roberts of South Africa will also be in the mix.
Omanyala will be lining up as the fastest in the field with a personal best time of 9.77. His closest challenger will be Roberts who is the second fastest in the field with a PB of 10.13.
In the first edition of the Grand Prix, the Commonwealth Games 100m champion clocked 10.12 to cross the finish line first but missed out on his sub-10 target. He will be looking to redeem himself when he lines up for the second edition of the event.
The first edition saw compatriot Samuel Imeta falter and settle for fourth place in 10.39. However, he will not be competing in the second edition.

On his part, Were, an African Championships bronze medallist, will be keen to replicate his impressive performance when he lines up against a strong field in the 400m Hurdles race.
