Olympic champion Masai Russell has revealed coach Greene's trait that made her fall out of love with the 150m.

Paris Olympics champion, Masai Russell has recently opened up about her bittersweet relationship with the 150m, a distance she once loved but now dreads, thanks to her coach, Rolando “Lonnie” Greene.

During a grueling training session, Russell candidly shared her feelings about Greene’s knack for pushing athletes to their limits.

“Coach Greene, you always know how to make a workout hard,” she said with a mix of admiration and exasperation.

“You know, I actually used to love 150s when I came to college. But then you made them so hard that now I hate doing them!”

Greene, ever the motivator, replied with a chuckle, “It will get you right.”

Russell’s journey with Greene began in 2018 when she joined the University of Kentucky’s track and field team.

Coincidentally, Greene had also just started his tenure as the head coach that same year. The partnership proved to be a match made in athletic heaven.

Under Greene’s expert guidance, Russell quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with, winning multiple NCAA medals and shattering collegiate records in the 60m and 100m hurdles.

The strides Russell has made in recent months are particularly remarkable with her tiumph in Paris on her way to Olympic gold in the 100m hurdles being the cherry on top.
