Jamaican wunderkind Oblique Seville is startled after beating triple world champion Noah Lyles in the men's 100m at the Racer's Grand Prix in Jamaica.
World bronze medallist Oblique Seville has expressed surprise after beating Noah Lyles at the just concluded Racer’s Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica.
Seville clocked an impressive world leading time and personal best time of 9.82 to cross the finish line ahead of triple world champion Lyles, who was forced to settle for second place in 9.85. Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala completed the podium, clocking 10.02 to cross the finish line.
Seville was competing on home soil and he clearly had a lot of pressure to deliver, hence he had to dig deep for the win. After the race, the 23-year-old could not believe he had won the race.

Lyles has revealed what makes the National Stadium in Kingston special as he itches to break its 100m record at the Racers' Grand Prix.
"I feel good. I'm a little surprised. It's special to be able to run so fast without too much specific work. It shows that I can still do better,” Seville said.

The Jamaican youngster is certainly primed for greatness, as Glen Mills, a former mentor of the fastest man in the world Usain Bolt, coaches him. He seems to be in the right position to be named Bolt’s heir.
Meanwhile, the youngster was running his first 100m race of the season following a triumph in the 200m race at the Atlanta City Games and Velocity Fest 14. He also won the 400m race at the Camperdown Classics in Jamaica.
Meanwhile, Lyles had been unbeaten in the 100m and this marks his first loss of the season. He started the season at the Tom Jones Memorial before also winning the Bermuda Grand Prix.
Last season, Lyles won titles in the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay at the World Championships in Budapest and is considered a major favorite for the Paris Olympics.
Meanwhile, the women’s 100m race saw Saint Lucia athlete Julien Alfred, 22, clock an impressive 10.78 to cross the finish line.
