Oblique Seville has opened up about the relationship he shares with fellow sprinter Kishane Thompson as they chase Jamaican glory at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Oblique Seville has opened up about how Kishane Thompson is motivating him for greatness as he eyes a top finish in the men’s 100m at the Olympic Games.
Seville explained that having a world leader come from his country is enough motivation for him to work hard and top the podium with his compatriots. The 23-year-old added that they competed back in high school and Thompson is one of the best athletes he has seen from Jamaica.
Seville is confident that if everything works out well, they will all be in the podium, including Ackeem Blake, who finished third at the Jamaican Olympic trials.

Oblique Seville is working around the clock as he eyes breakthrough at the Paris Olympic Games where he will be up against some of the world's sprinters.

“It actually motivates me knowing that he is a Jamaican because I know Kishane from high school because we used to compete together. He is actually a good athlete and knowing that we are together, it motivates me,” Seville told Nationwide90 FM.
“The Jamaican Championships have shown that the track has elevated and I’m sure that we are going to dominate at the Olympics. If I compete the same way I did at the trials, I think I will be on the podium and even for him (Kishane),” he added.
Seville added that at the moment, he is working on his strength and a bit of fitness but insisted he is ready for the championship.
He added that if all goes well and he manages to run a 9.8, he will certainly be on the podium. The Jamaican sprint sensation explained that, however, he will be keen to race through the preliminaries and the semifinal first before giving his all in the final.
“Well, I’m working on my strength endurance and a little bit of fitness but for now, I know that I’m fit enough for the championship and everything is going as planned. If I run a 9.8, I will be on the podium. My goal is to finish among the top three but I have to go through the first three stages, the semis, heats and then the final,” he added.
Competing in Europe comes as a blessing for him since he always encounters setbacks every time he plans to race there. He revealed that after the Jamaican Championships, he had races in Europe but he could not go due to injury setbacks.

The coach noted that Jamaican sprinters are in good shape and can repeat their 2008 Beijing Olympic Games exploits.
“For some reason, I always have some little nickels that cause me not to compete in Europe. I had some races in Europe, even after the trials, but due to some injury nickels and I had to back down and focus on getting better,” he added.
