Olympic champion Noah Lyles has celebrated Coco Gauff’s remarkable comeback victory at the WTA Finals.

American sprint king Noah Lyles has never been one to shy away from showing support for his fellow athletes especially his national teammates.

Following Coco Gauff's thrilling win at the WTA Finals, the Olympic champion in the 100m and self-proclaimed “World’s Fastest Man” took to social media to send a special message to Gauff, celebrating her momentous achievement in the world of tennis.

In a captivating three-hour battle, 20-year-old Gauff staged an incredible comeback against China’s Zheng Qinwen in Saudi Arabia, clawing her way back from a set and a break down to emerge victorious with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) scoreline.

“Congratulations,” Lyles commented on her post on X.

The camaraderie between the two stars blossomed earlier this summer at the Paris Olympics, where Lyles won his first Olympic gold and officially claimed the title of the World’s Fastest Man.

The Virginia native struck gold in the men’s 100m dash, achieving a career-defining moment in the City of Love, where he also got to spend time with Gauff in the Olympic Village.

Sharing meals and trading stories, the two rising stars built a bond rooted in mutual respect and shared dreams.

Their time together solidified a friendship that would cross sports boundaries and become a source of mutual encouragement in moments of victory and defeat.

For Gauff, the WTA Finals trophy represents the latest addition to an already remarkable list of accolades in 2024.

Earlier in the year, she won her maiden Grand Slam at the French Open, and now, after defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka and two-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek, Gauff has capped her season with a victory at the WTA Finals in Riyadh.

By winning this season-ending event, she not only pocketed an impressive $4.8 million prize but also silenced critics who doubted her capacity to excel at the highest levels.

“Muah! Also, I know I tend to focus on ‘doubters/haters,’ but this one is really for all of my supporters!” Gauff shared on social media.

"Ya’ll held it down for me win or lose! I thank you for that. I see you and I appreciate you. And I know some of you are a little bit petty like me, so it does feel nice to silence them for a bit.”

Meanwhile, Zheng Qinwen also leaves the WTA Finals with much to celebrate.

Despite falling to Gauff in a tough final match, the 2024 season has been a breakthrough year for the Chinese tennis star.

She began the season with a Grand Slam final at the Australian Open, reached new heights by winning China’s first Olympic singles tennis gold in Paris and secured her WTA Finals debut with back-to-back wins at the Palermo Ladies Open and Pan Pacific Open.
