Noah Lyles opens up on plans to launch shoe brand following dominant 100m win at Paris Olympics

Noah Lyles has expressed interest in doing the one thing Michael Johnson failed to accomplish after winning his maiden Olympic title in the men's 100m at the Paris Olympic Games.

After claiming the Olympic gold medal, Noah Lyles has expressed plans to launch his own sneaker company in the near future.

The three-time world 200m champion noted that he will not venture into spikes since they do not make a lot of money. He added that on top of his medals, he wants to leave a legacy and launching a shoe company would be one.

The triple world champion added that he is looking to do what Michael Johnson never got a chance to do despite winning all those medals. Johnson is a four-time Olympic gold medallist and he also won eight world championships gold medals.

“I want my own shoe…I want my own trainers, I’m dead serious. I want sneakers since there is no money in spikes,” Lyles said in a post-race press conference.

“Michael Johnson didn’t have his own sneaker, you know. I feel like for how many medals we bring back for the notoriety we get, the fact that that hasn’t happened yet is crazy to me and I was like yeah, that needs to happen,” he added.

The American champion added that he also wants to see sports grow and with the coming of the Sprint docuseries, he noted that the world of track and field is going to the next level.

He urged the athletes and the management to tap into the publicity brought about by the docuseries, and make sports available for every fan out there.

“To be honest, I want to see a continuation of the ability to take advantage of moments for our sport. Sprint came out and it did amazing and I know that season two is already being filmed you know,” Lyles said.

“We have already been on the course they are right over there and they have been doing a great job in getting our name out there and we need to take advantage and make this as available as possible for people to come and watch.”
