Mondo Duplantis proposed to longtime girlfriend Desire Inglander receiving heartfelt congratulations from fellow athletes including Noah Lyles.

Congratulations are in order for Armand “Mondo” Duplantis and Desire Inglander after the world-renowned pole vaulter surprised his longtime girlfriend with a proposal during a photoshoot for Vogue Scandinavia in The Hamptons.

The sweet moment marks a significant chapter in their love story, which began four years ago when the couple met at a Midsummer party.

After several attempts, Duplantis finally succeeded in taking Inglander on a date and the couple has been inseparable ever since, going public with their relationship in March 2021.

The heartwarming announcement has prompted an outpouring of love and congratulations from fellow athletes, including U.S. sprinting star Noah Lyles and social media sensation Olivia Dunne.

Lyles, the 200m world champion, was quick to share his joy for the couple, simply writing, "Congratulations," in response to the engagement news.

The proposal took place against the glamorous backdrop of The Hamptons while the couple was shooting for Vogue Scandinavia, a fittingly stylish setting for Inglander, a model and social media influencer.

Duplantis, however, confessed that despite his calm under pressure in pole vaulting competitions, proposing to his girlfriend was an entirely different kind of challenge.

“This is way more nerve-wracking [than competing]," Duplantis admitted during an interview with Vogue.

Duplantis has had a remarkable year, clinching his second consecutive Olympic gold medal in pole vaulting at the 2024 Paris Olympics and breaking his own world record with a leap of 6.25 meters.

Despite these monumental accomplishments, he revealed that the proposal to Inglander was perhaps his most daunting moment of the year.

Following his Olympic triumph, Duplantis went on to set another world record, clearing 6.26 meters at the Silesia Diamond League.

The couple’s announcement quickly became the talk of the track and field community, with athletes from around the world joining in to send their best wishes.

Masai Russell, the 100m hurdles and 800m Olympic champion, was among the first to congratulate the couple. "Omgggg congrats," she wrote, adding a heart-eye emoji to express her excitement.

British middle-distance star Keely Hodgkinson, who captured silver in the 800m at the Paris Olympics, also offered her heartfelt congratulations, writing, "Congratulations you guys," in response to the news.

Sprinter Akani Simbine, South Africa's silver medalist in the 4x100m relay at the 2024 Olympics, chimed in with his own enthusiastic message: "Congrats brother!!!!"

Dina Asher-Smith, the British sprinting sensation and three-time Olympian, added a touch of elegance with her congratulatory note, writing, "Congratulations," alongside a white-heart emoji.

Social media influencer and gymnast Olivia Dunne, who has risen to fame for her impressive athletic skills and online presence, also expressed her joy for the newly engaged couple.

"Oh my goodness!! Congratulations," Dunne wrote, reflecting the sentiments of many fans and athletes who have followed the couple’s journey.

Duplantis and Inglander have been seen together at numerous sporting events, with Inglander frequently spotted in the stands, cheering on her now-fiancé as he soared to new heights in pole vaulting competitions around the world.

Their engagement marks the culmination of years of shared experiences and mutual support.
