American sprint king Noah Lyles is one of the most active and vocal athletes on social media but he will be taking a break over a number of reasons.

World 100m and 200m champion Noah Lyles has decided to take a break from social media to focus on his Olympics preparations.

Lyles, who is one of the most active and vocal athletes on social media, feels the space has become a little negative for him hence the need to stay away and concentrate on what really matters, the Paris 2024 Games.

“Ight [alright] twitter ya’ll too negative for me right now. I’ll catch y’all after the Olympics,” he posted on X.

The 26-year-old is seen as the favourite for Olympics gold in both 100m and 200m and is set to line up at the Monaco Diamond League on July 12 before heading to Paris for the Games.

Lyles laid down the marker when he claimed dominant wins at the US Olympics trials last month, and he is considered America’s best bet for both races.

In Monaco, the three-time world 200m champion will be hoping to pick up his first Diamond League win of the season in the men's 200m.

He is up against Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo, the world 200m bronze medallist, Joshua Hartmann from Germany and Courtney Lindsey from the USA, who won the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi over the distance.

Lindsey, like Tebogo, has posted a personal and season-best of 19.71 seconds, making him another athlete to watch in this high-stakes race.

William Reais of Switzerland and Cheickna Traore from Cote d'Ivoire with season bests of 20.27 and 19.93 seconds respectively add to the depth of the field setting the stage for a thrilling contest.
